The Detroit Free Press' restaurant critic, Sylvia Rector, reports that American and Lafayette ground zero for Coney Island connoisseurs, are going dog to dog this work for the cameras from the Travel Channel's brand new "Food Wars" show.
Lafayette was up Wednesday; American is up 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today, March 11.
Supporters from both sides are to gather at 5:15 p.m. Friday and march to neutral territory -- the Old Shillelagh at 349 Monroe for the blind taste-off.
This could get rough.
The show is tentatively scheduled for 10 p.m. May 11.
Lafayette coney dogs are the BEST!Nothing like a small, cheap, clean, fast, and super delicious dog!

I've been watching this show (first couple episodes have just aired). I wish I would have read this earlier - I would have been down on Lafayette rooting on my favorite Detroit style coney joint - of course "Lafayette".
