Free Press restaurant critic has written a nice takeout (no, really) on plans to open a Detroit-style coney island restaurant in Hollywood.
She writes that Comedian Michael Binder, a Birmingham native, plans to open a 65-seat Detroit-style coney island.
He plans to go Detroit style, she says, Lafayette in particular, with all the hometown favorites. That's natural-casing dogs, mildly spicy sauce, Faygo pop and Better Made chips.
Check out the Free Press article on Hollywood's Coney Island and tell your friends in La-La Land to be patient.
They opened yesterday and it was amazing. Great to see all the Detroit ex-pats show up in support - the line was down the block and around the corner. First time for Faygo Red Pop for my kids, Vernors and Stroh's for me. The coneys were awesome.
